Fire Safety Week comes to an end….

October 15, 2011

We ended the week with more fire safety!  We made fire hoses and used them with the Five Little Firefighters fingerplay.  Then we practiced Stop, Drop and Roll and crawling under smoke and read the book “Firefighters! Speeding! Spraying! Saving!” by Patricia Hubbell.  We made a “Fire Safety Smart” certificate during Arts and Crafts to remember our fun Fire Safety Week!

F is for Frog…

October 13, 2011

Today was all about frogs!!  We read “The Frog House” by Barbra Garrison.  This was a cute story about a frog who makes his home in a bird house.  Tomorrow I am bringing in “The Wide Mouth Frog” by Keith Faulkner.  I love this book!  It is so cute and has so many fun pop ups in it and a fun surprise splash at the end!  We sang our F song from the Alphabet Flip Chart again and then made frogs and flies for art.

Fishy, Fish…

October 12, 2011

Yesterday we continued learning all about the letter F and fish.  We read the book “Fish Eyes” by Lois Ehlert.  They loved counting all of the fish in the book.  We sang the F song from the Alphabet Flip Chart and then made fish bowls and hand print gold fish.  It was a fun day!
