We celebrated Groundhog’s Day today. February 2 was the actual day, but because it fell on a Saturday we celebrated today. We read a few stories about the famous animal and made a fun and easy craft too! Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this year….early spring!
Sing with Me
I’m a Little Groundhog
(to the tune “I’m a Little Teapot”)
I’m a little ground hog
Furry and brown
When winter comes
I sleep underground.
I’m curled up
As cozy as can be.
When it’s spring please wake up me!
We read “Groundhog Day!” by Gail Gibbons and “Ten Grouchy Groundhogs” by Kathryn Heling
We made a foot print groundhog and hand print grass to make this craft.
Fluffy Little Groundhog
Here’s a little groundhog
Fluffy and brown.
He’s coming up to look around.
If he sees his shadow, down he’ll go.
Then six more weeks of winter- Oh No!
