K is for Kangaroo….

After taking a little blog hiatus over Thanksgiving Break, we are back in the swing of things this week with letter Kk.  We started the week with kangaroos; a kangaroo story, song and craft.  We hopped like kangaroos during circle time as we sang our Kangaroo Hop song and learned all about kazoos in the story “Kangaroo Kazoo” by Wendy Lewison.  We are also practicing our Christmas songs and will be ready to show off our talents on December 13th for our annual Christmas program.  We have sent home all of the fall crafts that were on display on the bulletin board to make room for winter and some fun snowy crafts to come!

Kangaroo Hop

(to the tune of Skip to My Lou)

Hop, hop, kangaroo hop.

Hop, hop, kangaroo hop.

Hop, hop kangaroo hop.

Hop, hop, hop, until you drop!

K Song

(to the tune of Rock a Bye Baby)

Kitten and kettle,

kite and kazoo;

key, kitchen, kingdom,

and kangaroo;

king, kid and ketchup, koala bear…

How many K words did you just hear?

Letter J…

This week along with our Thanksgiving theme, we have also been learning all about the letter Jj.  Today we read the book “J is for Jesus, the Sweetest Story Ever Told”by Crystal Bowman and made a baby Jesus slumbering in a manger on the letter J.  Then for our special snack, we had jam and toast.  The jam was in the shape of a J on the toast, they loved it!

This story is so cute!  It tells the tale of how the candy maker made the candy cane to remind us of Jesus’ birth.

Gobble, Gobble, it’s Turkey Time!

This past week we have been busy making crafts for our upcoming Thanksgiving Feast along with our regular curriculum.  We are very excited for our special lunch on Friday and to display all of the fun crafts as well.  We have been reading some special Thanksgiving books and learning a cute turkey song too!

I’m a Little Turkey

(to the tune of I’m a Little Teapot)

I’m a little turkey, fat and brown,

I fluff my feathers as I strut around.

I have a sharp beak and a big red wattle,

I open my mouth and gobble, gobble, gobble!
