Bubbles!

Today was a fun, bubbly day!  We continued  learning about the letter B with bubbles and how they are made.  The children whisked and mixed different soaps (hand soap, bar soap, dish soap, you could even use powdererd laundry soap too)  in water to see which ones got the bubbliest!  And also learned a bubble song to sing.  While on the playground we took our special bubble makers, (made from a plastic water bottle with the bottom cut off) and blew bubbles.

Bubble Song

(to the tune of 10 Little Indians)

1 little, 2 little, 3 little bubbles

4 little, 5 little, 6 little bubbles

7 little, 8 little, 9 little bubbles

10 little bubbles go pop, pop, pop!

Pop, pop, pop those bubbles,

Pop, pop, pop those bubbles,

Pop, pop, pop those bubbles,

10 little bubbles go pop, pop pop!

Buzz, Buzz….

This week we are learning all about B.  Yesterday we read Barnyard Banter and today we read Beetle Bop.  I also have the book In the Trees, Honey Bees which we will read later this week and dance along to Laurie Berkner’s Buzz, Buzz song.   We made our foot print bumble bees, which was a very tickley, wiggly project and the kids loved it.  Then we learned a new poem that went along with our flannel board.

The Beehive

Here is the beehive,

but where are the bees?

Hiding inside where nobody sees.

Here they come creeping, out of the hive….

1, 2, 3, 4, 5!

B is for Butterfly!

Today we continued on with the letter B, made handprint butterflies and read several books on butterflies: “A Butterfly is Patient” by Anna Huts Aston and Sylvia Long  and “Butterfly or Moth?”  By Melissa Stewart. We also shaped play-doh  into the letter B for our sensory center.  Look for more on the letter B this week and we learn all about bubbles and make special bubble blowers tomorrow!
