Yesterday (Monday) we started the week learning all about letter Pp and penguins.  These birds are so much fun to learn about.  We read two books about them, learned a song and a poem, then made paper plate penguins for our craft.  In “If You Were a Penguin” by Wendell and Florence Minor, we learned all about different species of penguins, where they live and what they look like.  Some live where it is warm, some live where it is cold and some penguins burrow dens underground.  We also had fun waddling like penguins during Circle Time!

Penguins at Play

Penguins live where it is cold

And swim in the big sea.

Penguins love to dive and fish.

They’re cute as they can be.

Penguins waddle back and forth.

They’re dressed in black and white.

They look like little men in suits.

They’re such a funny sight.

What a Penguin Does

(to the tune of My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean)

Oh, penguins swim in the ocean.

Oh, penguins slide on the ice.

Oh, penguins waddle when they walk.

Their black and white suits look so nice!

Penguins, penguins,

Oh, penguins  live in the cold, the cold.

Penguins, penguins,

Oh, penguins live in the cold!
