V is for Vegetables…..

This week we were so busy and had so much fun learning all about the letter Vv and vegetables.

Sing With Me

Vegetables

(To the tune “I’m a Little Teapot”)

Vegetables are plants we eat,

They’re so good, what a treat!

Carrots, beans, and broccolli-

They help us grow so healthily.

Poetry

Vegetable Colors

There are many colored vegetables-

They are good for you.

Carrots are orange, I’ll eat a few,

Beans are green, I’ll try them too.

Story Time

book about vegetables for preschool

We read “The Vegetables We Eat” by Gail Gibbons and “Eating the Alphabet” by Lois Ehlert.  The children were fascinated by all of the different vegetables that you can grow and eat.  We talked about all of the different ones and which ones were our favorites.

In the Garden

v is for vegetable garden

Over spring break the whole school planted a vegetable garden next to the playground.  Each child got a turn to dig a hole and plant a few seeds.  It will be very exciting to watch our seeds grow!

We were so excited to have a parent donate a veggie tray for a special snack and show and tell.  The children were very adventurous and tried each vegetable and decided that carrots and celery were the favorites.
